DINOS LEFKARITIS, the president of the Association of Tourism and Promotion of Larnaca District, anticipates that work on the Larnaca port and marina should get underway in January next year according to a report in InBusinessNews.
The construction work will be undertaken by the Zenon Consortium. We understand that the project will cost in the region of €200 million and will have a capacity of between 800 and 1,000 vessels. Surrounding land will be developed to include hotels, flats, parks, bicycle lanes, shops, restaurants and cafes.
In addition to the port and marina, other developments are planned for Larnaca including a modern Olympic standard shooting range and improvements to Piale Pasha Street that runs along the coast from the Larnaca Fort/Medieval museum.
The construction of Cyprus’ other new marina at Limassol is progressing well and is on course to be completed by the end of 2012.
